Young the Giant (USA)

This week featuring USA

Young the Giant formed in 2009 in California. After the departure of their keyboardist rock band The Jakes changed it’s name to Young the Giant.  The band released their self titled debut album towards the end of  2010.  The first single “My Body” did well on the US charts.  The single “Cough Syrup” has also had the same success.  According to lead singer, Gadhia, the underlining theme of the album is the “feeling of isolation and almost surreal happiness with a lover.”  This is a great new band that is receiving a good amount of radio airplay and “buzz”.

Carolina Liar (USA)

This week featuring USA

Carolina Liar are led by Chad Wolf from Charleston, South Carolina.  The other three band members are all originally from Sweden.  The band formed in 2006.  Their first album “Coming to Terms” was released in 2008.  The singles I’m not over and Show me what you’re looking for were both successful.  The bands latest album “Wild Blessed Freedom” was released in 2011.  Chad Wolf’s excellent song writing and vocal ability make this band what it is!

Blind Pilot (USA)

This week featuring the USA

Wow, what a great band that is little known.  Blind Pilot is an alternative rock band for Portland, Oregon.  In 2008 the band released their debut album “3 Rounds and a Sound”.  This album did well on Billboard Top Digital Album Charts.  In Sept. 2011 they released their second album “We Are the Tide”.  One of their best songs “Half Moon” is on this album.  They are on a tour of the US right now until mid Feb. 2012.

Alternative Music from the USA

This week I have decided to return to the USA.  This country has so many amazing alternative bands and so many bands that do not receive the recognition that they deserve.  If you happen to miss my first “visit” to the US, I featured the following bands that you can click on here:Blue October, Manchester Orchestra, The Airborne Toxic Event, We are Augustines, Green River Ordinance, Spoon.
