About

This blog was created to take a break from “corporate” music and venture out on a  journey around the world discovering new bands.  Each week I will feature a different country and every day post a song from various exciting, creative alternative bands originating in the country.

If you know of any such bands from your country feel free to comment and let me know so I could feature them.

This is my translation of the Spanish text. The group is from Puerto Rico
If you use the translation I would just like a link back to mu music blog. I hope you like this. it is one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard.

    Latinoamerica

    I am
I am all that they left
I am what is left from what they stole from you
A village hidden on the peak
My skin is from leather that is why it withstands any type of climate
    I’m a factory of smoke
A farmer’s work by hand for your consumption
a cold front in the middle of summer
Love in the time of Cholera, my brother
the sun that is born and the day that dies
    with the best nightfalls
I am the living proof of development
    a political speech without saliva
The most beautiful face I have met
I am the photograph of a missing person
I am the blood in your veins
I am a piece of land that is worth it
I am a basket with beans
I am Maradona against England scoring 2 goals
I am what that holds my flag
The backbone of the planet is my mountain range
I’m what my father taught me
the one who does not love his fatherland do not love his mother
    I am Latin America
A people without legs but who walks
    Listen!
    You cannot buy the wind
    You cannot buy the sun
    You cannot buy the rain
    You cannot buy the heat
    You cannot buy the clouds
    You cannot buy the colors
    You cannot buy my happiness
    You cannot buy my pains
I have the lakes, I have the rivers
I have my teeth for when I smile
The snow that puts make up on my mountains
I have the sun that dries me and the rain that bathes me
    A desert intoxicated with peyote
A sip of pulque in order to sing with the coyotes is all that I need
I have my lungs breathing clear blue
    The height that suffocates
I am the molar teeth of my mouth chewing coca
the autumn with its fainting leaves
the verses written under the starry night
    a vineyard full of grapes
a sugar cane plantation under the sun in Cuba
I am the Caribbean Sea watching over the little houses
    performing rituals of holy water
the wind that combs my hair
I am all the saints that hang from my neck
the juice of my struggle is not artificial
because the fertilizer of my land is natural
    You cannot buy the wind
    You cannot buy the sun
    You cannot buy the rain
    You cannot buy the heat
    You cannot buy the clouds
    You cannot buy the colors
    You cannot buy my happiness
    You cannot buy my pains

we are walking, drawing the way
we are walking, drawing the way
    You cannot buy my life
My land is not for sale
We are working hard but with pride
Here we share, what is mine is yours
This people cannot be drowned by storm waves
and if it collapses I will rebuild
neither will I blink when I look at you
so that you will remember my surname
    Operation Condor invading my nest
I forgive but I will never forget!
    we are walking
    here we breathe struggle
    we are walking
    I sing because you listen
    Here we are standing tall
    Long live Latin America
    You cannot buy my life!

I’m a boutique indie record label from New Zealand. Here’s my Youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/user/monkeyrecordsnz. The combined budget for the 40 odd music videos on here would probably equal one major music label executive’s lunch tab.
