Jack White is a musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist and actor.  He was best known as the guitarist, pianist and lead vocalist of The White Stripes until they split in February 2011.  In 2006, White became a founding member of the rock band The Raconteurs. In 2009, he became a founding member and drummer of his third commercially successful group, The Dead Weather.  He is ranked No. 70 on Rolling Stone‘s list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”.  Blunderbuss is the debut solo album by Jack White, released on April 23, 2012.  The album was written, recorded and produced entirely by White.


Neon Trees (United States)


New release from the United States


Neon Trees are an alternative band out of Utah, that formed in 2005.   The band received nationwide exposure in late 2008 when they opened several North American tour dates for the band The Killers.  The band released their first EP in 2006 and their debut album Habits in 2010. Habits was a big success and the single “Animal” reached #1 on the alternative charts.  The band now has a new album out, Picture Show and their first single off this album is the above featured video, “Everybody Talks”.

In the coming weeks I will be returning to some nations I have covered before, but this time I will be doing bands that have recently released a new album or a debut album that I thought were worth checking out and sharing.  This week I’ll feature new music from the US.  I hope you enjoy the following posts and will have a look into these great new albums!

2:54 (England)


New release from England


2:54 are a London based rock band made up of sisters Colette and Hannah Thurlow, joined by Joel Porter on bass and Alex Robins on drums.  They released 2 EP’s before their self tilted album release this year.  The above video is the first single off the new album, the song is called “Creeping”.

Keane (England)


New release from England


Keane are an English alternative rock band formed in Battle, East Sussex in 1997.  The band achieved mainstream success with the release of their debut album Hopes and Fears in 2004.  The album won multiple awards and was the second best selling British album of the year.  Their second album Under the Iron Sea continued the bands success.  Keane released their third album “perfect Symmetry” in 2008.  This album also won awards and had chart success. They have now released their new album Strangeland, above is their first single off the new album “Silenced By the Night”.  Below is the video for what I feel is their best song ever “Someone only you know”.

Lostprophets (Wales)


New release from Wales


Lostprophets are a Welsh band that formed in 1997.  The band have two hit singles on the UK music charts and a #1 single, “Last Train Home” on the alternative charts.  They have released five studio albums, the most recent album was released in April and is titled Weapons.  The fist single off of this album is the featured video above “Bring Em’ Down”.  Vocalist Ian Watkins lyrics range from sombre to aggressive, and have been described as often conveying a feeling of disillusionment with topics such as relationships or social groups, albeit frequently delivered in a rousing manner even when this is the case.

The Cribs (England)


New release from England


The Cribs are a three piece band that formed in 2000.  The band consists of twin Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross.  The Cribs have released five albums, the latest “In the Belly of the Brazen Bull” was released this year.  The album reached #5 on the UK charts.  The band is touring the UK and US.  The song “Come On, Be a No-One” is the first single off of the new album.
